I am ridiculously proud of myself today.  The light bulb in Kathy’s ceiling fan burned out.  I looked at it yesterday and had never seen a light bulb like it before.  I tried to take it apart and couldn’t figure out how to do so.  I came upstairs and sat with what am I going to do.  I remembered my brother is an electrician so text him a picture of the light bulb still in the fixture.

We drove into town today and went to talk to my brother.  He enlarged the picture I had sent him on his phone and showed me how the bulb comes out.  Went to Sutherland’s and found a bulb.  Came home and I was able to get the protective cover off, take the bulb out, put the new bulb in, replace the cover and the glass cover.  And it was easy!  Things like this are not usually easy for me.  Made me feel good that I was able to do it.

I only had one possible glitch.   Chad had cautioned me to make sure the power to the light fixture was off.  I turned breakers off and checked to see if the bedside lamp would come on.  When it didn’t I assumed the power to the ceiling fan was off.  I didn’t check the fan switch to make sure.  When I got the light bulb pushed in correctly it immediately came on.  Oops!  Luckily it didn’t shock me.

Didn’t do any of the other errands I have on my list to do while I was in town.  I am going back in tomorrow to go to the library book sale and will take care of them then.  Need to make two phone calls this afternoon if I can do so.  Sometimes making a phone call is almost impossible for me.  Not sure why that is like that for me.  When I am in the right mood I can do them and they are easy but many days I can’t even attempt them.  It is what it is!

Finally found some time this morning to watch my Bright Lines Boot Camp modules that I had received Saturday.  I usually watch them the day I get them but I had a busy weekend.  I cast on a shawl and knitted while I watched the modules this morning.  They are usually about an hour long so got almost one skein knitted up today.  Some weeks I get a lot out of the video’s but no so much today.

The blue skies are returning to the prairie today.  It is cloudy and sprinkled for a moment this morning.  Nice to see the sun return today.  It is to be in the 80’s later this week – bring it on!

Kathy helped me give the baby chickens fresh linens yesterday.  It is a two person job as I need someone to hold the trash sack open while I picked up the old stuff.  Ellexia helped me with it last time I changed them.  Three more weeks and I can take them outside.  I am surprised they haven’t flown over the pen they are in as it isn’t very tall.

I didn’t sleep very good again last night.  May take a nap today.  I got a big adrenaline rush when I was able to replace the light bulb easily and it drained me.  You would have thought I solved a world problem by the way I reacted.  Things just usually don’t go easy for me like this did.  Have to celebrate the little things in life sometimes.

Think I will run into Cottonwood Falls this afternoon and take care of a couple of things on my errand list.  The rest of the things on the list will wait until tomorrow when I go back to Emporia.

Realizing how many things are changing in my life these days.  The domino effect of not eating sugar and flour and processed foods is really growing – and in a good way!

Grateful for my little success in changing a light bulb today, grateful for the faith my brother had in me, and grateful life is easy for me right now.
