Not a very productive day for me. I fixed the kids spaghetti and meatballs and deliver that along with some bread and a pumpkin pie. I did go to Emporia to get some groceries this morning but other than fixing dinner I haven’t accomplished anything today.

I swapped with a neighbor some eggs for some home grown tomatoes. I think I got the better end of that deal. Nice to have friends that I can exchange goods with. Jim wanted a bacon and tomato sandwich for dinner tonight when he gets home.

Jim is headed home now. He should be here by 7:45. It will be good to have him home for the weekend. I think he is planning on returning to Stillwater next week to get some more work done. He had to do more yard work this time than he had anticipated and didn’t get much done inside. Maybe next week he can get more done.

We had a nice thunderstorm or two or three roll through last night. Not sure how much rain we got but guessing close to two inches. The cracks in the yard are still there but they closed a bit. Sure could use another couple of inches but I am grateful for what we got. The forecast is showing 100% chance for rain for Saturday so we will see what happens. It is hot and muggy out now with some clouds trying to work their way to me.

I got woke up at some point last night from a big crack of thunder. I had trouble going back to sleep but finally did. I have felt tired today and not well rested. May be another early night to bed for me.

No plans for the weekend. I may or may not get some cleaning or painting done. If Jim is going back to Stillwater next week I will probably wait and do it then.

Jason and Melissa were going to come out Sunday and we were going to finalize some wedding plans. Melissa is sick and they won’t be coming. She had to get Covid tested today but I haven’t heard the results. Not what she needs right now but it is what it is. Things will work out – sooner or later for them.

Six years ago I was walking the Camino de Santiago. I have been rereading my blog from that adventure and reliving the walk. I had not anticipated all the gifts the Camino would continue to bless me with after my walk. Most days I have some memory of something that happened on the Camino and it helps me make better life choices. What an adventure that was.

Found out a friend died from cancer and her memorial service was today. They had moved to Wichita some years ago and I lost touch with them. I was so sorry to hear about her passing. She was an angel on earth and will be missed by many friends and family. Her son used to work for us and he was one of my favorite crew people.

Ellexia continues to heal and recover from her bout with Covid. She hasn’t run a temperature for several days now. She is still more tired than normal but otherwise doing well. Her cough seems to be lingering too but it doesn’t slow her down too much.

Grateful Jim will be home soon, grateful for the life lessons given to me on the Camino, and grateful for the rain the prairie received last night.
