Another beautiful fall day in Oklahoma. We took a 3.34 mile walk today to get out and enjoy the weather. Did a bit of walking on sidewalk, on the cross country track and through the pasture. My foot held up well and hasn’t been cranky tonight.
I ordered a birthday cake for Jim from a local bakery. I picked it up this morning. His favorite cake is German Chocolate and this bakery made a three layer one for me. Jim says it is very good. I don’t eat flour or sugar so I didn’t eat any. I used to love German Chocolate cake. Jim’s birthday is Monday but today was the day that worked best for the bakery for me to pick it up.
This afternoon after our walk we worked on another set of windows to get them ready to paint. Still have some work to do before we can start painting tomorrow but ran out of daylight.
Tomorrow we have a brunch to go to. A friend of Jim’s has invited a group over for an informal brunch. I have met them and they are fun people to be with so I’m sure we will have a good time tomorrow. We will get to work painting again when we get home. It is homecoming weekend here and there is lots of extra people in town. Not a good time to get out and do much.
Someone called me today to see if I had a bed for them to stay in tonight. Not sure where they found my phone number – maybe off the Chase County Chamber website. Airbnb doesn’t publish my number until a guest books a room.
I fixed sauerkraut with hot dogs for dinner tonight. We both enjoyed it and it was easy to fix. I broiled the hot dogs before I mixed them in with the sauerkraut and it gave them a good flavor.
Hard to believe I have been here for a week. The time goes so fast when we are together. We have gotten lots of work done on his house but have so much more to do. I return to Strong City Monday afternoon. I have a long list of things I need to get done there next week.
When I had my eye exam the eye doctor recommended I go to a retina specialist to see if they can figure out why I have a blind spot. The specialist called today and I go see him the week after I have surgery. Not really expecting to get any answers as I have been down this road before but maybe with the new equipment they have now they can figure out what is wrong with my left eye.
I haven’t heard from the hardware store about the deck paint they are to get in for me and then mix to match my colors. Evidently he is having trouble getting it in. Sure hope he comes through for me sometime soon.
Grateful for a long walk today and that my feet held up without getting cranky, grateful for the work we got done on the windows today, and grateful for this time I am having with Jim. We celebrated one year together this week.
