Sitting at the KC airport waiting for our first flight. We got here early so we could get our bags checked all the way through to New Zealand.  The clerk was very helpful and was able to accommodate us.  First victory of the trip!

I left home at 9:00 this morning so am 5 hours into my 28 hour travel day.  Only 23 hours to go before we arrive in New Zealand.  I think I can…..  I think I can……

I didn’t sleep much last night so am trusting I can nap on the flight.  I rarely can sleep on an airplane though.  Have enough trouble sleeping in my own bed.  Good thing I don’t require a lot of sleep.

Had to get patted down coming through security.  Finally figured out today it is because I use powder and the machine picks that up.  Man I am slow sometimes!  I have been getting patted down regularly and just figured out what caused it.  Sometimes when you travel you have to find cheap thrills!

Found the sweetest card in my bag from my Marine’s wife wishing me safe travels.  Thanks Kathleen!  I love you two too.  I am so grateful they found me and are going to take care of my house and critters for me while I am gone.  By the way, I think I left my bedroom window open.  Would you please check and close it for me – thanks!

We are off to a good start.  Trusting the rest of the trip will go smoothly.

Grateful 5 hours are over, grateful the clerk was helpful and grateful this adventure is officially underway.
