It was a beautiful day on the prairie today. There was no wind and the temperature was in the low 60’s. Jim and I went for a walk after lunch. We took Sophia with us. I was going to take Roxy but she wouldn’t go past the electronic collar boundary even though I took her electronic collar off. We walked for 2 1/2 miles. I had to take my coat off as it was too warm.
This afternoon I painted some of the deck railings with flat black paint. It is slow going but it sure looks good once it is painted. I got one set plus done so now have an idea how long it is going to take to do the rest of the deck. The next four days are to be beautiful again so hoping to get back out and get a lot more painted. I had planned to paint inside today but it was so nice decided to paint outside instead.
Jim worked on moving dirt. The backyard doesn’t drain properly so he is moving dirt to help fix it. He also picked up a lot of rocks left over from the retaining wall repair project.
Fixed hamburger patties smothered in mushroom soup with onions, baked potatoes and green beans with bacon for dinner tonight. I had a baked sweet potato and Jim had a white potato. We were both hungry after our long walk and working outside all afternoon.
My weekend guests arrived around 7:00. They got checked in and than left for dinner. They are a nice young couple and we will enjoy having them here. They are staying until Sunday morning.
While I was downstairs getting their room ready I noticed the bathroom sink water was running slow. Occasionally the strainer gets clogged with little particles that come through the water line. Jim helped me clean that out and than he noticed the water was draining slowly. He pulled out a bunch of hair from the drain. He checked the other two bathroom sinks downstairs and found more junk in one of the drains.
I ordered a new dishwasher today. I haven’t heard when it will be delivered. I had found one at Lowe’s in Stillwater and when I went on-line at the Topeka store site today they had that some one and delivery is free right now. Mine still works but is starting to make weird noises and it sounds like the pump is going out. I wanted to get one ordered and on it’s way in case mine bites the dust.
Got one Christmas present ordered today. I don’t do much shopping for Christmas but like to get the grandkids something. One of the two told me what they wanted so got it ordered. Still waiting on a list from the other one.
I have four more full days to get stuff done before surgery. Besides painting I need to get some groceries and do some meal prep stuff. I taught Jim how to do the winter watering can for the chickens today so he will be ready to do chores for me while I can’t make it down there. Other than a bit of house work everything I had on my list to do before surgery is done.
Grateful for another long walk today, grateful I got some deck painting done today, and grateful for a beautiful sunset tonight.
