A thunderstorm woke me up this morning. Things were rocking and rolling on the prairie for a brief time this morning. It didn’t last long and no damage was done.
I went into Emporia early afternoon to pick up some moving boxes for a friend, pick up a prescription and check to see if the Hardware store had more paint (they didn’t). Then I went into Strong City and Cottonwood Falls to drop the boxes off, drop off my recycling stuff and pick up the Pioneer Bluffs Newsletter pieces.
I have been working this afternoon on the Newsletter. I am 1/4 done. Taking a break for a bit and will get another box done yet tonight and then will only have two more boxes to do tomorrow.
I was going to go out this morning and paint but the thunderstorm stopped me from that task. It is to rain tomorrow and Sunday so may be Monday before I get to get some more painting done. I need to clean house inside as I have been working outside the last week and have let the house go. I need to get it cleaned before I leave Tuesday.
I haven’t felt very good today. I may be getting a UTI. I will go into Emporia to the Urgent Care Clinic if I don’t get to feeling better this evening. I thought I had the start of one last week and drank lots of water and it got better. Maybe that will work again although my history tells me if it comes back a second time in a week I usually need something to help me clear it. Yuck!
Summer temperatures hit today. It is in the mid 90’s today with lots of humidity. It feels like a tropical island outside today. I don’t like hot and humid days. They drain me very quickly.
My intern went home for the weekend so I will have the house to myself until Sunday evening. It will be a quiet weekend on the prairie. I have needed a couple of empty space days and will appreciate the quiet and silence they will bring me. I have lots of things I need to get done so I can get away next week. I will crank up the music and get things done!
I am looking for friends to come stay at my house during the weekends I will be gone the end of June and most of July. I have gotten two of the four weekends covered already. I have the best friends that love the prairie and enjoy coming out for a night or two. They take good care of my critters and my house. If anyone wants to come stay for a weekend in July let me know. My intern will be here during the week but I hate to make him stay here all weekend too. He is willing to if I need him so I have a back-up in case someone can’t come as planned.
I haven’t done chicken chores yet today. When I get done writing I will need to go down and gather eggs and give them some water and feed. I worry about them when it gets so hot. They don’t like hot weather either. At least it has been cooling down in the evening.
Today is Summer Solstice. The day with the most light outside and within! Take a moment and give thanks for the gifts you have been given that you share with the world. The more we recognize our own gifts and share them the brighter they become. Hard to believe the days will start getting shorter starting tomorrow.
The moon has been glorious the last couple of nights. I don’t need to turn lights on when I get up during the night as the moon lights my whole house inside.
Grateful I am 1/4 done with the Newsletters, grateful for friends that will come take care of my critters and house while I am gone, and grateful for the light within today.
