Yesterday turned into a lazy, rest day. I took a nap while Jim drove his youngest son to the Denver airport. We spent the morning sitting on the deck watching the baby fawn and her mother play in the grass.
My feet were a bit sore yesterday but not too bad. They bothered me more at night. When I would roll over in bed they would yell at me and wake me up.
Today Jim and I took a 3.5 mile hike to the Pool. It is a beautiful spot on the Big Thompson River. The hike was a gradual climb on a beautiful trail. The trail was very nice in places, a bit rocky in others and big steps in other places. As usual for me the climb back went much faster than the climb up.
Jim’s other son left this morning to go on a hike by himself and hasn’t gotten back yet. Wonder how many miles he will cross today? He runs regularly and does a lot of walking and is in much better shape than Jim or I are.
Tonight I am fixing ham and beans in the instant pot with corn bread. I’m glad I brought the instant pot with me as we have used it most days. Makes meals simple and quick with easy clean up.
Not sure what the plan is for tomorrow. Part of it will depend on how my feet are doing. They have handled the hiking better than I had hoped they might.
It sprinkled on and off during our hike today but never did rain hard. Typical mountain weather from what I understand. It wasn’t as warm today as it only reached the upper 70’s today. Perfect hiking weather!
I am continuing to work on embroidery work on tea towels. Almost have a second set completed as well as five dish rags. It is relaxing work for my hands which relaxes and quiets my head.
Can’t believe we have been here for one week already. Time is going by too quickly. We will be here one more week and then have one more adventure riding a train before we head for OK and then end up in KS around the 23rd.
Grateful my feet are allowing me to get some hiking in, grateful for relaxing, lazy days, and grateful for the beautiful weather.
