Not sure it felt like Friday today. Not sure what day of the week if felt like but I am out of step with time and the calendar today. We didn’t take the trash down Tuesday so maybe that threw me out of whack. Ellexia came out on Wednesday which is most unusual too.
We got up to 34 today on the prairie. Above freezing after two weeks below. At last. It didn’t feel that warm as there was a brisk wind but we are trending in the right direction. It is to be 59 on Tuesday – short pants weather.
I handled six or seven calls on the hot line last night. None of them needed a supervisor’s involvement. Run of the mill things – suicidal thoughts, relationship issues, cutters, anxiety, boss issues, etc. All seemed to have calmed down by the end of the call. I took a short nap today so may get on the hot line later tonight and help out. We have been very busy late at night. They are going to start accepting applications for new volunteers next week so if anyone is interested in joining me as a volunteer let me know and I can get you more information. The training is fairly good and their approach works most of the time. It is rewarding work, although sometimes it can be draining.
I’m trying to think what I did today and am coming up blank. The days seem to pass whether I stay busy or not.
Grilled hamburgers for dinner on the George Foreman grill. Simple and easy dinner. I am going to fix chili for dinner tomorrow night. That will be another easy meal.
Sophia continues to recover and seems to be doing good. I checked her wound site today and it looks really good. I wrap her two antibiotic pills in a piece of ham and she eats them right up. I’m going to have to buy Jim some more ham next time I go to town as Sophia is going through his stash of ham.
The girls gave us 24 eggs today. I have 12 dozen eggs in the refrigerator that need a home. Hit me up if you need eggs. I deliver on Monday’s. I wish the food pantry would accept home grown eggs for distribution but they are not allowed to do so. When it warms up the first part of the week we are going to clean out the coop. It is stinky!
I hope to finish the blanket I have been knitting on. I need to have it done in two weeks so I can give it to a birthday girl. I’m on the 11th repeat and only need to do 12 so am almost done. Maybe I can get a good knitting session in tonight.
No plans for the weekend. We had left it open so we could recover from the vaccine shot we were supposed to have gotten today. They got delayed until next Thursday. I need to go to Costco and am thinking about running down to Wichita tomorrow to get that taken care of. I may wait till earlier in the week when they aren’t so busy. We’ll see what I decide to do tomorrow.
My hand mixer bit the dust last week so I ordered a new one. It came in today. It is bright red. The white one that was the same model was $20 more. Go figure.
One more week and we will be able to get into our new rental property and start the repairs and cleaning process. I need a big project and am thinking this one will fit that need. Not sure what we will have to do until we can get inside it and really take a good look at it. I know it needs lots of cleaning and painting but beyond that am not sure what we will find. Jim has some woodwork trim to repair on it that we noticed. He is good at that type of thing.
Grateful we came through the winter weather without any property damage, grateful for the warmer weather headed our way, and grateful my computer tells me what day of the week it is.
