The internet at camp sucks. You have to get on-line at 5:00 pm to get a pass to get into Rocky Mountain National Park for the next day. Today I got a pass and entered my credit card information and then the internet crashed and it didn’t go through. I am beyond frustrated with the internet here. I told Jim if they didn’t get it fixed I won’t come back next year. I don’t have phone service here and the internet is my only connection to the outside world.
We stayed home all day today. I didn’t sleep well again last night and haven’t felt good today. It rained this afternoon off and on. It was a good day to stay home and rest. Not sure what our plans are for tomorrow now that we didn’t get a pass. We can enter the park before 9:00 but need to be at the gate around 8:00 to get in. Not sure that early in the morning works for us.
I need to go to the grocery store again tomorrow sometime. If I get up early I may go then. The store gets really busy after 9:00 or so and stays busy all day. Traffic through downtown Estes Park is very heavy during the day. Lots of people like to come to Estes Park in the summer time.
I knitted two dish rags today. Guess that will have to be my great achievement of the day. I am almost done reading the last of five books I brought with me. May need to go to the library on campus and check out some more books. We still have two weeks here and I will need something to read. I can always download a book on my iPad, if the internet will work long enough to do that.
Not sure what we are having for dinner tonight. We have some leftovers in the refrigerator that need used up. Nothing sounds good to fix. I need to come up with some ideas of what to fix before I go to the grocery store tomorrow. The kitchen here is equipped but barely. Certainly have to keep things simple.
I was wishing it was time to go home earlier today. Not sure what I am going to do for another week before Jims sons come. Hiking just doesn’t sound fun to me and there isn’t much else to do here. We don’t have a good view of the mountains this year so sitting out on the deck isn’t calling me either. All you can see is trees.
There is a mother mule deer that has twin fawns that we see most days. The babies are cute to watch. They are still young enough to have spots. They have been raised around camp and are not afraid of people.
It got up to 73 before the rain came in today. It is to be in the lower 70’s for the next couple of days. The rain wasn’t in the forecast but up here it is almost expected that we will get a brief shower most afternoons. It has cooled down this evening and is a beautiful evening out now. The smoke haze from the wildfires out west still hangs over the mountains.
One week down, two to go. I have had just about enough of doing nothing. I don’t do that well. If I am going to do nothing I would rather be home doing nothing.
Grateful for the twin fawns that hang around our cabin, grateful for knitting that keeps my hands busy, and grateful for the beautiful weather.
