My 11 year-old granddaughter tested positive for Covid this morning. She has a cough and a 101 degree temperature. Trusting her recovery will be quick and smooth. So far she is feeling tired but not too bad. She has been able to eat and drink so far. May it stay that way!
Her older brother has to quarantine now too. They have been down this road before when Michelle was sick last August. Dang it anyways.
Jim and I had decided when we came home from CO last week to not have contact with the kiddos for at least a week to make sure we didn’t bring something home with us. Grateful we stayed away over the weekend but sad I won’t get to see them for at least two more weeks. That will make six weeks without my grandkids hugs. That is hard on a grandma’s heart.
Jim had a 9:00 doctor’s appointment in Emporia. He took the grandkids some no bake chocolate cookies I made last night for them. He also stopped at Walmart and got a tool to help him remove the flat tire from the mower so it can get fixed. Hoping to get the tire repaired before I need to mow again – right now the grass isn’t growing as it is too hot and most of it has burned up.
Yesterday I cleaned out my pantry shelves and got rid of lots of things I didn’t want/need. I have two boxes of things to drop by Goodwill next time I am in town. Today I took everything up and off the floor and scrubbed the floor and woodwork. Took the trash can outside and hosed it down. The pantry looks and smells fresh and clean now. One room done, many, many more to go!
Only picked up 5 eggs this morning and I didn’t go down until 10:00. I think the girls are on a heat strike. Can’t say that I blame them. It is way too hot out there. I got hot playing in the water when I was washing out the trash can.
My handyman came today and has been working all day repairing the sheet rock in the basement. We had to tear a lot out when I flooded earlier this spring. Now that the drainage system is fixed I can get the repairs done. When he gets done I will have some painting to do. It is good to be getting that project done. I’ll be able to cross one more thing off my pending list of things to do.
It is so hard knowing the kids are going through a tough time and not being able to be there to help. This virus is still alive and well and spreading throughout the community. I sure am getting tired of taking precautions but today proved to me why it is still vital that we do so.
Grateful the pantry is clean, grateful Ellexia is not too sick, and grateful for my handyman.
