Another hot one today. My car showed 108 on the way home from KC today. Luckily the heat wave ends tonight. The high tomorrow is to be in the mid to upper 80’s.

I went to the Olpe Meat Locker around noon and picked up Nicole’s half of beef. I took some boxes to contain it and took my weighted blanket to put on top of it for the ride to KC. I blasted the A/C in my car on the way to KC. I had to put on my sweater as the car was too cold for me. The meat was still very frozen when I got to Nicole’s house at 2:00.

Nicole’s friend came and picked up half of her half. I helped Nicole get her quarter in the freezers and then headed out. She works from home and had a call she needed to participate in.

I stopped at Chipotle and had lunch and then went to Cabela’s and got some trail pants and a few new shirts for my trip in September. I came home after that. Traffic was heavy until I got south of Gardner and then it lighten up a bit. I forgot this was Friday and traffic was heavier than normal.

I got an email from my insurance adjuster letting me know the first payment on the roof replacement was put in the mail today. My insurance agent was able to get Jim’s name removed from the policy so now the insurance adjuster can start asking payments.

I got a call from the roofing company to let me know they are going to start the new roof on Monday. Wow! That was fast. I may need to look for something to do Monday and Tuesday while the roofers are here making noise.

I still haven’t heard from the Efis guy so will call him Monday. I was going to call him this afternoon but was on the road and I don’t use my cell phone when I am driving.

The Pella guy is to come Monday afternoon if he can find my house. Not sure why he struggled so much trying to find it last Wednesday. The other contractors have driven right to it.

Feels like a bit of progress was made today on the hail damage resolution. The next big things I need are the Efis and Pella bids and then I can start making some decisions on what to do next. Hopefully by mid-week next week I will have those.

I need to check with the insurance adjuster about the deck painting and see if I need to get a bid or if he is going to pay market standard price. His roofing estimate was based on market standard but he holds back 20% of it and pays that out at actual cost bases. He was unable to come up with a market standard for the Efis replacement and the window replacements as Efis is not common and the windows are custom sized. My understanding is that when he gets those two bids he will pay me that cost.

Tomorrow morning I am going back to the Olpe Meat Locker to pick up my half of beef. I didn’t want to get it today and then come home and put mine away before I went to KC. I didn’t want Nicole’s meat to sit out that long.

I have a football scrimmage to go to at 11:00 tomorrow to watch Tagen play. I’ll have to make two trips to town tomorrow. Some days are like that, I guess.

Not much on my calendar for next week. The Pella guy is coming Monday afternoon and I am hosting an Equinox Celebration Thursday evening. I should have plenty of down time to start prepping for my trip. 13 days to go and counting….

Before I leave I will need to get a big load of chicken and dog food stocked up. The chickens seem to be eating an unusually high amount of food right now. They are going through more than one bag a week. I’ll have to get at least 10 bags next week to last them until the end of September. The dogs go through one 50 pound bag a week. Wonder if my car can haul 700 pounds of feed in one trip? I may need to make two trips.

Tagen is playing football in Wichita tonight. They are doing something called a Jamboree where three different teams take turns playing each other with a limited amount of downs. Craig and Nancy are going to watch him. I’m too tired to drive to Wichita after having driven to KC today.

Michelle got another offer on their house today. Fingers crossed the loan the people need will get approved and this sale will go through. Third time is a charm – right?

Feeling a bit exhausted and a bit overwhelmed this evening. Going to the city can do that to me. The heat is getting to me too. I’m not out in it much but it sure seems to zap my energy what little I am out in it. I feel for those that have to work outside all day. I worry about the football players tonight. It is still over 100 at 6:00 so it won’t cool down much when they start playing in full pads at 7:30.

Grateful for a safe trip to KC, grateful to see Nicole for a hot minute today, grateful for some movement on the hail damage claim, and grateful I found some trail pants today.
