Had a much better night last night. I didn’t sleep all night but didn’t have any pain. I’ll take that any night over a night of pain and having to take a pain pill.
I realized today getting around is actually slower with crutches than it was with my knee cart. With crutches I don’t have a free hand. At least with the cart I had something to balance things on while I wheeled around. I have been using two crutches today and have been very conscious of how much weight I put on my sore foot. I walk about the speed of a turtle.
Other than doing the embroidery on several tea towels I haven’t accomplished much today. Just taking a shower each morning feels like my day’s work is done! I laid down for a bit this afternoon but didn’t go to sleep. I can take my foot out of the boot while sleeping now – just can’t take any steps with it off.
I had ordered a new washing machine from Lowe’s in Topeka. They called today to firm up the delivery and told me they couldn’t do it on the day they had promised and that I would have to wait another week. I cancelled the order and ordered the same washer at the same price from Best Buy. They are to deliver on the day I was promised by Lowe’s. I’ll see if they come through! This makes two different businesses that have lost a sale due to delayed delivery dates. They must not need the business.
Tonight we are going to some program at Jim’s church. I have been to his church before and there aren’t lots of steps so should be good to go. I’ll have to remind him we need to leave a bit early to give me time to get in and out of the car and into the building. I don’t do anything very fast these days.
Getting a bit antsy from all the sitting and doing nothing. I keep telling myself I am allowing my foot to heal and not just sitting. Sometimes I can relax in to that and other times not so much.
Jim took his splint off his hand today. His hand is still swollen but he is able to move his fingers and make a fist. He can’t close his fist tight due to the swelling but doesn’t have too much pain when he tries to do so. Grateful it seems to be healing quickly and am trusting he will be pain free in another couple of days. He banged it good.
We got a nice rain overnight here. More rain is predicted for overnight tonight. Sure am enjoying a break from the high 90’s and low 100 degree temperatures. The humidity is still high though.
Grateful for less pain today, grateful to be getting another couple of sets of tea towels done, and grateful healing is happening for both of us.
