Another hot summer day in Kansas. I am ready for fall and cooler temperatures but am trying to figure out a way to skip over winter. I hate the bitter cold as much as I hate the heat. Maybe I need to find a place to escape for a month or two this winter.

Ellexia and I baked chocolate chip cookies last night. She is a big help in the kitchen now. She said they turned out really good. I don’t eat them so will have to take her word for it.

We had a good time together last night. She helped me take the dogs on a walk. She decided to sleep in my bed with me instead of on the couch as the dogs snore and she was afraid they would keep her up. She went right to sleep last night and slept in for a bit this morning. She was a good bed partner and didn’t move around much at all.

I fixed her blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs for breakfast. I hadn’t fixed that for a long time. It is her normal breakfast order when she stays over.

I took her back home this afternoon when I went to town for exercise at 3:00. I am grateful she came and spent some time with me. I can’t believe she is starting high school in two weeks. Where does time go?

My realtor got back to me today with the results of all the inspections. I added them all together – yikes! I made a counter offer and am waiting to see if it is accepted. This is the part of selling real estate I don’t like. Not sure if the buyer will accept my terms and conditions or not. I am never quite sure what to do in cases like this. The good news is I don’t really care if I sale the house quickly or not. That helps bargaining a bit easier as I am not in a desperate place to sell.

The meat locker called to let me know the beef is ready to be picked up. I will go down Monday and get my quarter and then I will go back on Tuesday and pick up Nicole’s 3/4. It will be good to restock my freezer.

The tree guy was here when I got home from Emporia. Not sure how long he has been working and what is plans are. Maybe he will come in and share them with me but I am not sure he will. One of these days he will get done and give me a bill for all his labors.

Exercise went by fairly quickly today. The substitute trainer left me alone most of the time. The trainer is to do the exercises with me and he kinda does them but more not than does. Oh well, at this point I know what I am doing and it really doesn’t matter. Grateful in another week I only have to go twice a week and will do the video at home the other day each week.

I walked down to the court house this morning and got my new car tags. They gave me another temporary tag and will mail the permanent one within ten days or so. The guy that waited on me used to work for the Subaru dealership in Wichita and knew the people that helped sell me my car. I had to pay some additional sales tax as the sales tax rate in Wichita is less than the rate in Chase County. I hadn’t planned on that.

I ordered a new K-Tag for the new car. The turnpike has gone cashless and the K-Tags make it a bit cheaper to travel on the turnpike. I still need to notify the car wash place about the change in car tags. I’ll take care of that after the new tag comes in and I am in Emporia.

No plans for the weekend. I am hoping I can stay home both days. I don’t have exercise on Monday but I am going to go to Olpe to get my part of the beef. Two days at home sounds heavenly to me right now.

I am a bit cranky this afternoon. I realized it is the first time that has happened since I came home from Costa Rica. I think it will pass quickly. I am tired and frustrated with a couple of things. I will allow myself to fully feel these heavier emotions and then this too shall pass.

Grateful the beef is ready for me to pick up next week, grateful the car tags are on their way, and grateful for the time I got to spend with Ellexia.
