It has been a busy couple of days.  Jim and I have gotten lots of yard work done.  The guys came to mow and bale the front yard.  I mowed the big part of the yard yesterday and today.  I had to mow the tall grass between what I normally mow and what the guys are able to bale.  It is dusty, icky mowing but I got most of it done.

We got the bedrooms downstairs made up and ready for our guests to arrive tomorrow late afternoon.  Found lots of dead spiders which is normal – just glad they were dead!

My foot is healing.  The boot is so so big and heavy I keep getting tempted to put weight on my foot.  I will be able to put partial weight on it starting next Wednesday. It is a lot more swollen since I got the boot as it is hard to prop up, especially at night in bed when I am wearing the boot.  Haven’t taken any more pain pills for several days now.  I do take some ibuprofen once or twice a day which is enough to knock the edge off the uncomfortable feeling in my foot.

The PA showed me something called EvenUp and recommended I get one.  I wear a tennis shoe on my good foot and the EvenUp is an attachment to my tennis shoe that makes that foot level with the boot.  The scooter is a lot easier to run with the attachment on my shoe.  The only problem is that bunion is now cranky because I have been wearing a shoe most of the time.

Still not a pro with the crutches yet but am getting better.  The scooter works better most of the time for me.  I do get frustrated with it as it does not turn very tightly.  I do a lot of 12 point turns.  I keep reminding myself to work with it and not get frustrated.  When I can do that it is easier.

Took my bath for the day when I came in from mowing today.  I was dusty and dirty with dirt in places in didn’t belong.  My boot had lots of its of grass stuck to it on the Velcro straps.  Wonder what the foot doctor will say when he sees that?

It did feel good to be productive and feel good enough to get out and mow and clean the basement.  One can only sit and do nothing for so long!!!

Jim has been working hard helping me get the outside of the house looking good.  He even washed the outside of the windows downstairs as they had lots of bird poo on them.  He found rotted wood on the deck landing and is replacing that.  The drainage needs improved around the deck below and he is working on that.

Grateful to be able to mow yesterday and today, grateful the tall grass is now in big round bales of hay, and grateful for all of Jim’s help.
