This day didn’t go as planned. Ended up going to the ER around 1:00 this afternoon. That weird feeling I had wasn’t going away. Turned out I was in Atrial Flutter. It stopped on its own while I was in the ER. They aren’t sure what caused it. My potassium was low and it is possible that caused it. The other possibility is when I had the thyroid storm back in September it damaged the electrical system in my heart. The ER Doctor recommended I go see a Cardiologist and get a complete work up to see if they can figure out the problem.
I have had a slow heart rate for years but since I had the thyroid storm it is lower than ever. Most days my average resting heart rate is 51 with it going as low as 38 at night. My primary doctor was OK with seeing if it would recover on its own but not sure that is the wisest option now. I’ll go see him early next week and get a referral to a Cardiologist. I won’t let him put me off this time. I had asked my primary doctor if I needed to see a Cardiologist when I had my physical in October and he said I could but he didn’t think it was necessary. I should have listened to my intuition then.
Feeling back to my normal now. Glad to know what has been happening so if it happens again I won’t be so panicked. Trusting I can now figure out what has been causing this to happen and find a permanent solution.
Ready for this medical stuff to stop! I have had my fill over the last six to eight months!
